American company Moderna will sell its Corona virus vaccine to governments at a price of $ 25 to $ 37 (about Rs 1,850 to Rs 2,800) per dose.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stephen Bensel gave this information in one of his interviews.
In an interview with a German weekly newspaper, he said, “Our vaccine costs the same as the flu vaccine, which costs between $ 10 to $ 50.”
The deal between Modarna and the European Union may be soon
Bensel revealed during the interview that his company was close to entering into a deal with the European Union and a contract could be signed between the two in a few days.
“Nothing has been signed yet, but we are close to a deal with the European Union Commission. We want to supply to Europe and there are constructive talks in this regard,” he said.
EU wants deal at a price of less than $ 25 per dose
Earlier this Monday, an EU official related to the case said that the union wanted to deal with Moderna for millions of doses of the vaccine at a price of less than $ 25 per dose.
Let us know that the European Union has been negotiating with Moderna since July about its potential vaccine and now the talks have been expedited after its interim results are out.
Moderna’s vaccine found to be 94.5 percent effective in interim results
Moderna released the interim results of a final phase trial of its corona virus vaccine based on mRNA technology only last week and found the vaccine to be 94.5 percent effective.
The results came out in an analysis conducted after 95 of the 30,000 people involved in the trial were found to be infected. Of those found infected, 90 were those who were given placebo and only five were given the vaccine.
Vaccine can remain stable for one month at 2 to 8 degree Celsius temperature
The best thing with Moderna’s vaccine is that it does not need to ultra-freeze like Pfizer’s vaccine and it can remain stable for a month at temperatures ranging from 36 ° F to 46 ° F (2 ° C to 8 ° C) is.
This will facilitate the distribution of the vaccine and if needed, it can also be easily distributed in countries like India.
Initial dose of Moderna will go to America, will give 20 million doses this year
Moderna has received nearly a billion dollars in funding under the US government’s ‘Operation Warp Speed’ for the development and distribution of the Corona vaccine, and so its initial doses will go to the US.
According to a report by international news agency Reuters, the company will deliver 20 million doses to the US this year and several million doses have been produced.
The company will also soon apply for approval for emergency use.
