On Saturday, actress Payal Ghosh took to Twitter and wrote that Anurag Kashyap was sexually inappropriate towards her. The 30-year-old actor tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her tweet, requesting him to take action against the filmmaker. Now, in an exclusive interaction with India TV, Payal Ghosh narrated how it took six years for her to come out and speak about the sexual harassment. The actress, who made her Hindi debut with Rishi Kapoor-Paresh Rawal starrer “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi”, also claimed that she doesn’t need publicity as she has good work at hand. “I just wanted to share my bitter experience and let the world know the real face of the Bollywood industry,” Payal added.
On being asked as to why she opened up about the matter after six long years, Payal Ghosh said, “I tried to say it before also, when the #MeToo movement had started, but my family and friends stopped me. ‘You can’t talk, your career will be spoiled,’ they told me. I posted about this also, tagging Anurag, but deleted it.”
Payal Ghosh has found support in National Commission for Women, with its chairperson Rekha Sharma assuring the actor that the NCW will take cognisance of the case.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap has denied the allegations. “What’s the matter? You took so much time to try and silence me. Okay no problem. You spoke so many untruths while trying to silence me that being a woman, you are trying to drag in another as well. Have some limit, madam. I would just like to say that whatever charges have been made are baseless,” Kashyap wrote on Twitter.
