A recognized offender and sharpshooter, who were allegedly involved in the attack on Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan in 2, 000, has been detained in Thane town of Maharashtra almost 3 months after he jumped parole, ” a senior official said on Saturday.
The accused, Sunil V Gaikwad (52), was nabbed in Parsik Circle region in Kalwa close to 9 pm on Friday he also said.
“We had acquired a tipoff that Gaikwad is coming to Parsik Circle area. Accordingly, we laid a snare and captured him” senior inspector of Central Crime Anil said.
“The accused contains 11 instances of seven and murder cases of attempt to murder registered against him. Each of them contains an attempt on Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan’s life in 2000,” he said.
The assailants had fired 6 weeks, of which two bullets had struck Roshan, authorities said.
“Gaikwad was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case which was lodged at Nashik fundamental prison. But he also came on 28-day parole on June 26 this year,” the official said.
“He was expected to come back towards the prison following completion of the parole interval. But he did not do so. He was concealing till his arrest last night,” Honrao additional.
According to the state, the accused had been busy throughout 1999 and 2000 and was involved with several crimes. He had been Connected to the notorious gangs of Ali Budesh and also Subhash Singh Thakur.
Throughout an identical time, he had been likewise involved in a dacoity in Nashik, where he had opened fire on police personnel also said.
