Anil Kapoor is known as the evergreen actor of Bollywood and is praised for ‘jhakaas’ dance moves and amazing acting in films such as ‘Mr India’, ‘Nayak’ and ‘Welcome’ among others. ‘Nayak’ was not a box-office hit but it is still known for the actor’s stellar performance as reel life Chief Minister.
Anil took a stroll down memory lane and recalled shooting for the film, which completed 20 years of its release on Tuesday (September 7). Anil shared a picture of a popular mud sequence from the film where he was covered in wet brown mud. In the movie, during this scene, Anil fights off the criminals.
While sharing the photo, Anil wrote a nostalgic note, “20 years ago I was the Reel life CM for a day and the rest is history! A lot of people had their views about me doing #Nayak but I knew I had to do this film and believed in its message! And now here we are celebrating #20yearsofNayak.”
Fans and other members of the Indian film industry have heaped praises on Anil on the movie’s 20th anniversary. Actor Ranveer Singh commented, “Cult,” while photographer Atul Kasbekar wrote, “Wow I shot this poster AK…!! Time flies.” Hairstylist Aalim Khan also commented, “LEGEND @anilskapoor.”
“Masterpiece,” wrote a user while another commented, “One of a Best movie.” A third user wrote, “I still watch everytime its on tv. Dhamaakedaar performance by you. Apart from this you performed really well in Lamhe. My most favorite movie,” while a fourth one wrote, “Your best work. Ever. One of the best Bollywood movies ever made.”
Helmed by Shankar Shanmugham, ‘Nayak’ also stars Rani Mukerji, late Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever and Pooja Batra among others. The movie revolves around a TV reporter Shivaji Rao (Anil Kapoor ) who questions the corruption of the state during an interview with the state CM Balraj Chauhan (essayed by late Amrish Puri). Unable to handle Shivaji’s questions, CM challenges Shivaji to become the CM for one day.
Talking about his upcoming movies, Anil will soon be seen in ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ which stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor in key roles.
